  • Message to WWOOFers:

We, One River Tea, are cohosting this WWOOF farm with the Loushuiyuan Tea Cooperative. Together with them, we want to give international guests a genuine chance to experience live on a tea farm in a traditional Tujia wooden cabin. We have two other major goals:

    1. We want to show our neighbors, member-owners of the Loushuiyuan Cooperative, that their is international interest in the organic methods they have been slow to adopt.
    2. We want to help the village with their labor shortage. With no young people interested in farming, vast swathes of the village's tea fields have become consumed by the jungle. Trails that have been walked for more than a century are vanishing, while decades' old terraces are collapsing. We hope to turn the tide and keep the local agrarian lifestyle alive.

You give us 5 hours x 5 days a week of work, and we'll give you a place to sleep + 3 meals a day.
